So since moving from 2x to 1x ive noticed that im dropping the chain more on very rocky fast descents. Im guessing a chain guide is the way forward but is anything better than the other. Its going to have to mount to an icsg thingy

The OneUp guides are really good. Very lightweight and work well. Not dropped a chain once using the direct mount one 🙂

Agree with Stevie, if you need a guide then the tiny wee ones like Oneup or my Shovel are great- they fit without removing the cranks too so they're dead easy to say up and you can take them off in 2 minutes if you want to. It gives retention much like an oldschool DH double guide with a plain chainring, ime.

TBH I've found my 1x, with narrow wide and clutch, to be more reliable than my old doubles with bash and stinger. But the difference is, though the doubles'd mess up more often the chain'd usually pedal back on, or just drop to the granny.
