Dropped an Eagle X0 chain in white spirit last week, give it a good shake, forgot about it... Washing and cleaning it off today it looks like the coating has faded or come off as I can see tarnished/discoloured links, is it screwed?
White spirit is my usual cheap ass go to chain cleaning method and works no problem but I fear a week is too long?

It'll be fine, unlike the time I de-rusted a chain after a soggy 24/12 with malt vinegar.
The surface rust came off beautifully, the rust inside expanded and broke every other link.

Paraffin is a kinder degreaser to chains and you have miss typed Putoline.
