not quite sure if i need to swap cassette and rings really as well as chain . its measuring .75 not yet 1 . do i just suck it and see and see if it slips or not ? ta all

Yep pretty much. If you get the chain bfore it hits 1% you're probably OK on just replacing the chain, over 1% and it's fairly likely the cassette will be gone as well. I tend to replace chain rings and or cassettes after I've replaced the chain if I'm getting slippage problems, especially if it's only readin 0.75.
