[#1698356]

He came out riding with the Bog Trotters today and attempted a jump, but ended up going head first into the ground and lying ominously still. Copious amounts of claret, followed by a ride in a helicopter ๐Ÿ™‚ Pics uploading now. He's texted to say he's been stitched up OK

Glad to hear he's ok.
So what's the total in emergency services costs for the bogtrotters so far this year?

When he went so still we did wonder if he'd broken his neck, but most of the damage was caused by the peak of his helmet slicing open his face ๐Ÿ™ He made an awful groaning noise like some wild animal...

And that's why donating to your local air ambulance is a good thing - more insurance than charity.

Good to hear he's not properly broken, and a great picture.

no, I just held the button down at 6 frames a second ๐Ÿ™‚

And that's why donating to your local air ambulance is a good thing

we already donated last year after the incident of a fallen rider on the Hope Challenge, but we'll be giving again!

Pile drive and back wheel to groin interface and he was worried about ribs?

Good to see no serious injuries though I'll be checking back later for the GIF though ๐Ÿ˜‰

After the first post my thoughts were "I hope he's okay" ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

.....however, I have to confess that photo made me laugh like a loon... especially once I knew he was fine. ๐Ÿ˜†

Were that me in the photo, I would use that for every sinlge profile shot from now on.

James here on SFB's pooter...

Yeah, slight mistiming, caught the lip, front end dived and I don't remember how the rest of it went until I was lying there taking stock. As soon as the others phoned 999 they sent the air ambulance (possible head/neck injury).

All stitched up now and generally OK, back is absolute agony (must have torn/pulled something). Huge thanks to SFB for getting it all on camera, the rest of the Boggies for just being there, driving my car home and the support (and pisstaking!) throughout.

And, as usual, immense gratitude to the paramedics and hospital staff - donate to your air ambulance now! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Impressive crash and nice one to walk away from.

Send that photo to casting agencies - you're a cert for a starring role in a zombie film.

Lucky escape there James. Hope the back settles down. As for donations; I support the local air ambulance every month via direct debit. They've helped numerous friends in the past and I hope them to still be there if I ever need them, mtb related or otherwise.

It's a fine line between heroic crash with celebrity status recoverable injuries and paralysis I guess judging by that picture. Glad he's OK but makes you think. Still, we'll all be flying around without a care in the world come tomorrow morning...

I think James is already going stir crazy. He's not interested in the footie. The poor lad came to visit me again (a sure sign of desperation) but I was too busy cooking to entertain him ๐Ÿ™

the other helicopter passenger was just someone we found lying broken on the trail, while all the other Hope Challengers left him to his fate (or attempted to fall on top of him while rubbernecking). In the 14 years I've been with the club we've called out mountain rescue approx 6 times.

I only ask as the climbing club seem to manage a couple a year (for the past 3 years) and it's a standing joke (if a touch gallows humour).

Glad you're OK James, you're not the first Boggie to fall foul of that particular jump
