as per the title. Have a shimano cassette looks to be probably HG80, maybe HG70. It's stuck on the freehub on a DT swiss hub on a specialised enduro wheel. At a guess i'd say the steel cassette has scored itself onto the aluminium of the freehub. Trying to figure out how to get it off without resorting to brute force as i don't want to damage the freehub. Any suggestions as to how to this?

piece of wood & hammer, a quick shock or two to the cassette in an anti-clock wise direction always get my (EDIT: non-spider ๐Ÿ˜‰ part of the) cassettes off a Pro II freehub.

This is why we should use proper spidered cassettes on ally freehubs!

Anyway, as zippy said, it just needs a shock. Another way is to use 2 chainwhips, one on biggest cog, one on smallest, then tweak. And repeat with any other cogs stuck on.

Got it off with some gentle persuasion. As to the steel cassette aluminium freehub thing well i wouldn't do it either but the good people at the Specialized bike co obviously don't agree. As that's the way it came from them.
