[Closed] Cassette lockring remover for Hope Pro 2 142mm

Hi

I just converted my Hope Pro 2 rear hub to 142mm and realised my Shimano cassette remover tool doesn't work with it - the end isn't long enough. Can anyone recommend one that will work?

Cheers,
Andy

You can't fit the end cap after the cassette lockring - the lockring ID is smaller than the end cap OD.....

I ended up turning my end caps down a fraction on a lathe to clear the lockring as one frame is 135 spacing and the other 142 - and I share wheels between the two! Was a faff to keep removing the lockring every time I swapped bikes!

Although - as above - the Park tool had a deeper engagement than my old tool, however I used a shimano one designed for saint hubs that use the lockring to hold the rotor on!

"saint hubs that use the lockring to hold the rotor on!"

Eh?
Surely the cassette locking is on one side of the hub and the disc rotor on the other?

You sure about that?
Can't say I've ever had to remove my cassette to get my hope end caps off, be they QR,10mm,135x12 or 142x12 (has them all on these wheels)

Memory's a bit sleepy but not sure the shimano centre lock tool is the same as the cassette lock ring tool
But may be wrong

Yup - definitely sure. Pro 2 Evos and shimano cassettes - only just foul each other, but they do. (Have 135x9 QR, 135x10 and 142x12 axles too)

Might be wrong on the saint tool (but my shimano one definitely fits.

And yes - saint hubs use a lockring to hold the rotor on - centre-lock.

I can also confirm that the 142 end cap on the drive side is bigger that the cassette lockring making the removal of said end cap impossible, with out removing the cassette first. 11-36 SLX cassette.

Thanks all :-). As passtherizia and others said, you have to put the endcap on before the lockring. I'll try the superstar and park FR5
