I noticed yesterday that the resin adpter (Octalink BB) on my partner's Scandal doesn't seem quite flush with the BB shell (not by much, I can just about get a finger nail between them). The thing is it was done up to 60Nm (the mid-point of the recommended torque range) so is in nice and tight and I assume that it's doing it's job of supporting the non-driveside side of the bottom bracket. Everything feels nice and tight with no wobble in the BB.

Do I need to tighten it up some more to try and get it flush (and resin adapters will crack/deform if over done) or is it okay to leave? I suppose that another possibility is that the BB shell of the Scandal has a slight camfer, which would make it look as if the adapter's not quite flush.

It's fine. Some of the plastic cups don't even have a lip.

When fitting a cartridge BB, always fully tighten up the driveside first. And when taking it out, always loosen the driveside first too. Otherwise you'll knacker the plastic bit on the other end.

Thanks for that, I had a feeling it'd still be doing it's job but there's no harm in double checking.
