I had problems with my hands for years until it was propoerly diagnosed as CTS.

It was fiarly strainght forward from then on. Get the nerve condution tests as soon as you can, that will then determine if you need surgery.

I had to have surgery and it was 100% succeful, no problems at all since. I also needed both hands operating on, the first one in a day and the second one two weeks later in a day. No overnight stays in hospotal were required. It was all done under local anaesthetic. The stitches came out of the first just before the second operation and the stitches from that two weeks later.

It wa sjust waiting for the hands to heal after that. I was biking again within .... 6 week from the second operation I think (carefully on easier stuff).

If you need any other info just message me.

Make sure it is properly diagnosed.

I have a friend who was told CT and as it turned out it was something else completely (MS)

Think I've got the beginnings of CTS, following years of key board and martial arts. I bought carbon bars with some flex, which helped, but not 100%. I'm hoping stretching post rides will help. Cheers for the post, it's put my mind at rest should surgery be required some day

Was diagnosed with it in 1998 ish, I sort of found out through MTBing and was getting pains/numbness whilst sleeping, has surgery on both hands (about 3 month apart) been spot on ever since!!!!!!

Had to have my left hand operated on a few years ago due to CTS. Right one is starting to show symptoms but still bearable at the moment. Ergon grips on the bike helped me, as do copious amounts painkillers!
Downside is my left hand has developed a Trigger finger, possibly connected to the CTS surgery. Maybe going under the knife again! ๐Ÿ™

This flared up for me a couple of years ago. I don't think it's as bad as some people get, but would wake me up in the night and was uncomfortable. Definitley seems to be worse when typing, playing guitar or riding a lot. I have heard very mixed reports on common NHS treatments, steroid injections are not a long term option, and success of surgery is patchy at best. I found these online http://www.mycarpaltunnel.com/

The wife does these sort of operations.. fairly simple surgery I believe (for her anyway)

No, my Trigger finger is the middle one. Why? .
Strangely enough, my also left handed Dad had surgery on his left hand and has also developed a Trigger finger! And they say it's not hereditary! Thing is he had these develop in his 70's and I'm only in my 40's ๐Ÿ™

Surgery about 5yrs ago. No issues since. Used to wake up 3/4 times during the night with numbness and had to lower my hand outside the bed to get some feeling back. Surgery was under a local and took about 15 minutes. Sent home same day. Back mtbing 4 weeks later. Remember to keep it elevated for a few days (it does help).

I had surgery on both hands for CTS 10 years apart and found it very painless and successful, recovery was maybe 4-6 weeks. I also have Dupuytrens contracture (trigger finger) which was not related and was getting so bad on my left hand I had it treated. Looking on google / youtube put me off surgery but luckily the consultant I saw used a new treatment with Xiaflex which has been very successful with a return to cycling within days, at the moment I believe it is not available on the NHS.

I had the op 2 1/2 years ago now. I don't suffer like i did but i do have some problems with the muscle on the palm under the little finger, but only when i'm riding. I wear a wrist support (even just a light weight Schole one works) and have no problems at all.

The op (all 4mins of it) was the best thing as mate of mine put it off and had injections. Only lasted 6 months and his hand went worse than mine so had to have the op anyway.

I get quite noticable numbness in my hands at night and can feel them waking up in the morning. I thought it was just how I was sleeping. May have a read up on this.
