From the heatmap it looks like you can go down from Drosgl to Gyrn and then Moel Faban, or even down from Gyrn Wigau but that looks a bit er.. steep on the OS maps!

Bump for this one as interested in the route - any tips on best way down? I'd prob be coming from N side over Drum so would want to head back in that direction.

I took a bike up there once. Up from capel c, hiked up Penywaun. Rode along the ridge of Llewyn and Dafyd. Then hiked down to Cwm lloer. Would have been much more fun without a bike.

I have sussed out the line up to there from Drum. Looks like a grassy slog.

I would be tempted to go up drum, push in the carnedd Gwen , head west to drosgl, North to the coast just to the east of model wnion, then along the coast to synchnat pass and down Conwy mountain.

No idea what drosgl is like. But may work as a loop.

I hike a lot that way and personally wouldn’t bother taking a bike up there - difficult terrain to cycle imo and much more enjoyable on foot.

Around 15 years back me and a mate went up with the intention of riding the Dafyd/Llewelyn ridge, yomped up from Capel side around the three lakes and came out on Foel Grach which is very near the top. The weather then turned so we headed down north along the ridge via Drum.

Grassy slog sums it up, it’s a damp undulating ridge with lots of sections that are like riding in an overgrown sloping field. The best bit was near the bottom as it comes into Llanfairfechan but that was nothing special. Far better riding to be found elsewhere imo.

@stevedoc I went up this morning from the seafront of Llanfairfechan - great day for a mountain ride, cool, bright and clear.

Drum is easy climbing in the main, but just after there is a brutal grassy slope up to Foel Fras that was well beyond me. Gradient eases though and you can get back on and ride all the way to Foel Grach (the top before CL). 976m ascent which is around 90% rideable is pretty good for the UK - not too many peaks like that.

Descent-wise it looks like the Tech Lord lines are all far side off the Lewellyn / Helgi Du ridge, whereas back towards the sea is more fast and grassy. I didn't fancy the hike a bike up and along from CL, it looked quite substantial (there's a strava segment along the ridge and top ten is mainly fell runners who have mis-labelled their runs). It's an option though if you were prepared for an epic day.

Ended up taking a grassy goat track down into Cwm Eigiau and tbh it was only OK - did give a nice ride out the valley and round the mountain back, but there must be better ways off the mountain. Perhaps the valley immediately above - there are two long tracks either side (towards Llanbedt y cennin) that might run well but IDK.
