We are going carless from thursday of this week, so will be needing some way of getting groceries back from the shop. What cargo trailers do people recommend?
Jimmy got one from us a while back for Sustrans use.
Could have done with it on Sunday - picking litter on the path at Drylaw/Craigleith area. Reckon bout 80 bags!
We also found a human poo tip. literally. Something else that was.
anyway, i digress.
I think it was an Adventure from Madison.
I use a bob-yak, or for smaller purchases Ortlieb panniers, or for smaller still purchases a Brompton S-type bag (can still get 6 bottles of wine in that).

I bought one last year from Germany for not much (£65 incl postage) and it has been excellent for shopping and communting duties. I will be using it for some minor camping duties as the summer approaches.

I have a bike that can take front and rear panniers, which can carry an amazing amount of shopping. I also have a Carry Freedom Y Frame in the large size, which can accommodate bags of compost and cement, huge amounts of shopping, garden rubbish, surfboard, a bike, or most anything. It is amazing, and you need one in your life. Carrying stuff by bike is one of my favourite bike things to do: the more implausible or odd or large the load, the better.

I have Carry Freedom City.
Excellent bit of kit and folds flat out of the way when not in use. The bag can be loaded in the supermarket and then fitted to the trailer when outside. I regularly lug the Brompton round on it (taking a bike for a service) and have carried all sorts of loads on it (stairgates etc).
You definitely want two wheels for load lugging as one just wags the dog (I used to have a one-wheeler but sold it).
There are a few suggestions on here
Raleigh/Avenir Mule is a pretty cheap option (about £65). Basic, sturdy, and 2 wheels makes it nice and steady.

It is a rebranded thing, we got ours new for less than £100 from eBay under some other name, I think Specialized have had it for more as well.

If you are thinking of pulling it by hand at any point though, two wheeled trailers have an obvious advantage, I went one wheel for the narrower profile in traffic/cycle gates though.
