apparently - oil/grease can be absorbed by the carbon which makes it swell, which is why many people find their seatposts stuck... Not sure that a gritty compound is what you want in this situation either? Isn't that better for things like stopping a carbon bar slipping inside a stem?

Iirc that's not oil/greased based and the bits reduce the clamp force needed to tighten it up
That stuff was recommended to me by Scott for a scale frame with a carbon post as it dosnt swell the carbon

I asked my LBS for some carbon paste and they kindly gave me a small foil sachet of the stuff, just enough to do the job. Worked well so far.

Yep carbon paste (if you seatpost slips a little) or talcum powder if it's urgent. (used this on my carbon road bike for years)

Carbon paste will certainly stop the post slipping and reduce the torque needed on the clamp, but as it is gritty will badly mark the surface finish of the post. For less cosmetic damage talcum powder is fine and still increases friction - even recommended by Specialized in their fitting instructions for s-works carbon posts.
As mentioned above grease/lube is a definite no no.
