MMMMMMMMM just come back from LBS as they had a white one and black one delivered this morning. Very very nice. So nice that I have the alu one on demo today and tomorrow to decided if I should get one.

Sorry. No it's not.
I liked mine (mk1) but could not justify it, not 'core enough (or so core I didn't need it 😛 )
I like it a lot, but i'm going to wait to see the new genius LT
Dribble..... But get it with the coil shock. Double dribble
So if you can have a bike that has all the travel of an AM bike at the weight of a light trail bike, and has well controlled and dialled suspension that pedals really well, then why wouldn't you want it? To me that's a no brainer.
It's not going to slow you down and can only speed you up; ergo the only reason you don't want one is because you don't want to go any faster? Is that it?
GT72 - that was the myth re the mk1 - no way did it feel like it did not slow you down compared ot a Heckler etc.
geetee1972 not sure who the above is directed at but if its me I just want to make sure the nomad style suits me and I feel comfortable before splashing £2500+ on a frame. Coming from a giant the suspension feels quite different so need to give it a hammering over the next 24h.
They'll probably be a dead good bike but they'll end up becoming the classic middle aged/middle managers weekend trail centre 'weapon' and hence a bike you wouldnt want to be seen dead riding! A bit like a lapierre
Demoed an ally one recently. Annoyingly I'm smack between sizes and don't fit either properly, but I wasn't massively impressed with the way it pedalled. Very efficient feeling, but didn't hook up as well as my 8 year old Turner in the granny on the tech stuff. Air shock (Monarch) was appalling.
Fantastic DH over the rocks though - really does feel like the back wheel moves away from the rocks as it hits into them.
JF how tall are you?

Oh goodness, no no no, think you're doing absolutely the right thing by test riding it.
And my comment wasn't intended as a dig at anyone. (OK it was a little inflammatory, there may have been some traces of mythical foldy roll type creatures in there)
I was just saying that all other things being equal, such as weight, pedalling dynamics/efficiency and suspension performance, why wouldn't you carry more travel? As it happens it looks like it's not all other things are equal and the way the Nomad pedals isn't as good as other bikes.
heh 😀
Right thought I would update from my first ride of the demo alu nomad this afternoon.
Did just under 20 miles and first impressions are that the monarch shock is not for me as its very linear in motion and does not seem to have the plushness of my reigns fox rp23. Not sure if this is also a function of the VPP vs Maestro but will continue to observe it.
The frame/geometry seems to ft me quite nicely but the 2step lyric 36 that is on it makes the front end very heavy and think my talas 36 will be a better fit.
I look forward to my 40miler planned tomorrow and will report back.
If anyone has this bike could you let me know what the DHX Air is like??
