Hi there

I have purchased a Cube Stereo carbon with a crack the seller has refunded and says he no longer wants the frame so I can ditch it but j was wondering about repairing it
I've had quotes from £250 to £450 I ask the STW massive should I not bother or get it done ?
I'm in Nottingham so if anyone knows someone in my area just let me know

Thanks for reading this
All the best

Carbon is pretty straightforward to repair. There's a guy local to me who does it, you'd never know the frame had failed once he's been over it.

Or if you're not willing to spend on it, give/sell the frame to someone who will. Saves it going to landfill!

My short answer is yes.

Slightly longer - found a crack in the chainstay of my carbon Cube Stereo, and sent it off to these people:Target comp. , who kept in touch all the way through and sent back a rear triangle that looked as new.

Has since done trips to Morzine and Whistler without issue.

I used these guys (in Moira/Coalville) years ago to repair some damage to a carbon swingarm. They did a good job and I'd use them again if I had the need.

I used the same guys as Bails after I fell out with Yeti/Silverfish over the warranty, they were very good.

Another vote for Target Composites - they're just down the road from me - Phil is so knowledgeable and his work is immense - I quite like it when he repairs something an dleaves it as bare carbon under the lacquer - makes it a feature in my eyes!

If you follow GA Cycles bike shop Facebook page, you will see how many carbon repairs they get through. They are in Southampton, but will make you realise how much of it is going on.

Whereabouts is the crack, it might be cheaper to get a spare part, I've seen stays and front triangles on eBay in the past.

I was going to suggest Rob Hayles but not sure if he's still doing carbon repairs; he's based in the Peak District.

I can recommend CBT at Coalville (Moira) I sent many customers there for advice and repairs. By all accounts they were honest and competent. I think the founder used to repair masts for the ocean going racing yachts. Hope this helps.

A few years ago I had a bad crash and almost completely broke through the top tube on a Carbon Framed road bike (Scott Solace). I had it repaired and it was a brilliant repair and still is, tens of thousands of Km's later.
If you can afford it then I'd repair it.

I think Carbon Wasp in Leeds still do repairs.
