weight aside if you had a carbon frame, road or mtb and you put alloy bars, stem, seatpost on it would the ride be the same or nearly the same as an alloy frame with carbon bars, stem, seatpost, I ask this question as the answers will help me decide on future frame purchase
No
if you have to ask, then you don't need the answer.
the question is far more complicated. i.e. just imagine a £500 carbon frame vs. a £1500 alloy frame...
it's not the materials that determine the ride, it's the design, the attention to details, the perfectionism of the designer to get the best out of the materials with out over engineering.
You do get different grades of Carbon the same way in metals
More you pay should be better quality of frame, design etc.
Simple answer no. I suggest you ride a few as no two manufactures frames will ride the same, and to be honest it is more noticeable with carbon frames.
thanks, was going to try some out, i remembered the difference i felt when i put carbons on my hardtail and i have carbon seatpost on my road bike which i did after a few rides and again i noticed the difference hence my question
I have a carbon frame and bars and a ali seat post. could bring my self to spend all that dosh on a carbon post and TBh really like thopmson kit. I also have a ali bike with carbon bars simlar geo but ride so so different I thnk the geo etc make such a difference unless you rode the same bike with different kit back to back you would know!!
