Never had carbon bars before do I need to put carbon assembly paste on the alloy stem before tightening up?. The bars do have a tape surface at the clamp area , is that a substitute for paste?

I have two sets of carbon bars, never needed or used carbon paste. Didnt over tighten and they never budge.

I've only ever used gripper paste on an aluminium seatpost in a carbon frame. Carbon bars have never slipped so I haven't given it a thought.

My Thomson carbon bars came with some carbon assembly paste and instructions on how to use it. The clamp bolts on the X4 stem are very small they need all the help they can get

I've just fitted a new set of Carbon CX bars to an alloy stem and forgot about the paste..

I'll do that later then.
