[#9458023]

Only a year or so into getting more serious road biking but the bug as bit.

After a bried spell with a planet x i got myself a synapse hi mod and ita very comfortable. With light wheels it climbs well etc so and great for sportives. Ive recently wondered juat how much faster a bike with race geo like a tcr or tarmac would be over the synapse. Somw good deala at the moment on a supersix and im curious if it would compliment nicey for ahorter more intensive rides. Or too much duplication and negligible benefit.

Ive gradually reduced spacers as ive become more flexible and approaching the stem being slammed.

Advice please chaps but please dont turn it into an all cannpndales are crap buy my bike type thread.

Cheers.

Unless you're racing I don't think the cost to benefit ratio would justify that as a n+1.

You'd be better off spending on some aero wheels to compliment your lightweight climbing wheels.

I've got the supersix and it's a great bike but I do notice it's a proper race bike on longer rides 80 miles plus. Would love to compare with the synapse for a longer ride as I've never ridden one. Got the supersix as I'm from a criterium background on road so generally faster shorter rides.

I have a synapse ultegra Di2 with Reynolds wheels. I can't say it's any more comfy than my cervelo s3. Also on Reynolds.

If I were to do it again I'd probably not bother with the synapse and go for super six or caad 12

Tough one. I can't see it being an n+1 though. If you like the supersix because it's a bit faster then you're never going to pick the slow bike out the garage-you'll more than likely just accept it's not as comfy.

Personally I'd either upgrade the one you have or sell it and spend on the other one.

I'm currently lusting after the caad12 in the deep purple.

I won't really be much help but I tried identically spec'd Synapse and SuperSix back to back before opting for the Supersix.

I'd characterise the main difference as the handling, where the Supersix was responsive like a sports car and the Synapse was more languid like an SUV...

BTW: my carbon Supersix has a much more comfortable ride than my alloy Kona Jake but that's not comparing like-for-like as they both have different wheels and tyres...

I have a relaxed geo bike and sporty geo bike and seem to have set them both up with the bars and saddle in the same place just stems etc at different angles.
