Evening all, just reassembled the front end on my 2013 Scalpel and the o-ring on the bottom of the V2 OPI steerer squelches out as it nips up.

What's the trick to stopping it looking like a tiny black nitrile hernia?

Alright, forget the experts bit, any experiences at all? ๐Ÿ˜‰

For that matter are there some well hidden Cannondale tech docs that I can't find with a normal Google search?

Are you sure it's an O ring, not a nylon washer?
I've got the older version and page 13 on the 2011 - 2012 manual shows a nylon washer.
Page 11 on the 2013 manual looks the same.

Cheers both, the steerer seems too short to accommodate the o-ring (compared to the lefty clamps) and mine's the Mk2/V2 steerer MTG, which has an o-ring for some reason. A stiff nylon washer would make more sense but this is Cannondale...

I think this was a new addition to the later steerers to try and reduce possible creaks. Not sure how this helps but that's what I've been told in the past.

I too can not for the life of be tighten the steerer without a small section of the O-ring pinching and sticking out. I've always done it the best I could then taken it to the LBS who seem to be able to make everything fit perfectly without binning the O-ring... no idea how they do it or even if the O-ring is important!

There is some black magic at work here, it came fitted up perfect but having moved the frame spacer and removed all the stem spacers the damn thing has developed a life of its own ๐Ÿ‘ฟ
