Hi,

Fed up with the grindy, grumbly FSA reducer headset on the Cannondale, so want to replace it, without breaking the bank, or significantly increasing the front end height. Forks are standard 1.125" Rebas, frame is Cannondale big.

Anyone have any cheap and useful advice? Options are:

Use the headset reducers in the garage, but they have a long lower cup, so increase front end height a lot. Plus I need to buy a new headset, so still has a cost involved.

Buy new flush-mount reducers (£20 ish) and a new headset - gets expensive.

Buy another £26 FSA headset, but the cheap ones have rubbish seals and loose bearings.

Buy a cheap one of these:

Any one tried one? Do the cups fit an aluminium Cannondale hardtail frame ok, and does it come with a inch-and-an-eight crown race?

Has any one used a Superstar Grande Bambino reducer in a Cannondale?

Ta!

I fitted a Hope one once, it was painless and worked great. Not the cheapest but one of the best.

Not in a Cannondale but I've had several (used in Intense and Santa Cruz frames). Have one fitted to my Uzzi at the mo' - excellent for the price.

Me too (in my prophet mx), the one with an extra extension on the lower cup to stop your forks hitting the downtube.

In fact it's still in the (swingarm now cracked) frame sat in the spare room....

Yeh, it's not much use to me at the minute I suppose, drop me an email (in profile) and we'll sort something out.

Second the Hope. I have one, and it is very nicely made, and works perfectly. And the lower cup has a 10mm or so stack height which stops the fork adjusters fouling the downtube. The flush mount versions don't do this.

Well worth the money imo.
