I have an old, circa 2001 Cannondale with the old 80mm travel on, looking at getting them serviced where leisure lakes want roughly £115, thinking should I change the forks instead.
1. Can I put normal forks on it, do I need a headset spacer?
2. How can i work out what length of fork can I put on it.
3. Or is there a cheeper servicing option, not sure I can do it myself?

Cheaper servicing is available.

Try Noahs Ark.

headshoks are reasonably easy to service as long as your methodical.

when we bought mrscarlos f700 we got an invite to a 'how to' overhaul headshok forks evening at leisure lakes and were most surprised at how little there is to do.

For that price I'd hope they'd be stripping the whole fork down and replacing the needle bearings and the like. We charged 70 bucks for a cartridge overhaul at a shop I previously worked at, and that price was only hiked up as we hated the ****ing things.
