Hi
Just after thoughts on the above as a race bike for next year.
As Racing goes I generally race at the mud, sweat and gears events.
I currently have a 2015 Spark 900RC in large (I've had a medium in the spark but prefer large) I was deliberating changing back to a hardtail.
I like the look of the F-si, sizing wise I think I would be a medium but not many second hand ones around if any.(all large)
Even demo days I've done they didn't have any to try.
I'm only 5ft 8" on a good day. 🙂
I would hate to sell the spark then not be able to find a medium.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

yeah, i'm 5'8" and i had a medium fsi, nice bike, but a bit too niche for me as stem/headset choices limited, same with hollowgram cranks and then same again wheel choices for the lefty, apart from that lovely fast bike and i really did like the lefty.

Thanks Jonny
Would you say keeping the full suss spark is a better option in your opinion?
What did you replace the fsi with?

I knew i’d seen that Spark somewhere 🙂

My personal opinion is that although you only need an HT for MSG, the Spark isnt holding you back, and is a considerable race bike. If you were doing some longer races also, I’d keep it.

However, its your call if you want a new bike and for MSG/XCO that Fsi will be really good.

I run a Trek Superfly 9.9 Carbon f/s at 22lbs and I’d say I prefer it to fsi, climbs better due to full suss grip, descends better, all round I think the xc light weight full sussers are starting to take over the hardtails

I’d agree with JRM.

If i had one bike, it’d be a short travel race xc bike with remote lockouts on the shock /fork. Funnily enough, my current choice is either a Spark or Scalpel with proper fork.

I’m a bit of a princess when it comes to being battered around but for Marathon type races I’ll be using my Anthem for sure after being battered on the HT at Builth Wells this year. That could just be me though!
