If you were to photograph an iconic section at Cannock Chase, which bit would that be? Does it have any obviously standout features that make it distinguishable from any other trail centre?
Any notable climbs or descents? Series of berms maybe? I rode it a few years back, but not enough sticks in my memory to be of any help here!
I like the view from the first hairpin on Upper Cliff (Monkey Trail), I like the change in the feel of the section at this point, and the fact that you get distant views and feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, even though you're not...!
Bike pointing the wrong way in the pic btw!
Probably looking out across the "valley" at the top of Insidious Climb before descending... Lovely view up there...
Only bit I probably class as "Cannock" that isn't anywhere else is the gate at the bottom of Lung Buster
Yeah probably the view from the top of Lower Cliff.
Agreed top of lower cliff is probably the best view out over the trails.
The trees near the start of Monkey with gouges out of them?
When I first stated riding there, there was a point on the trail where you looked down the valley and Rugely Power Station was framed on the horizon.
That bit is bypassed now and the power station has been demolished, so not much use to this thread sorry, but it was quite spectacular and unique.
This might be it, not quite as I remember it in my head, might be a slightly higher vantage point.

Evil Slab perhaps?
The road home?
I actually love some the views at Cannock, particularly on the Monkey trail it’s easy to forget you in a wood in the Midlands
Don't go this weekend though - Birches car park is 90% closed due to tree felling.
There’s two standard Cannock chase pictures
The riders picture

Or the magazine picture which is pretty much from the same place but to the right a bit to get more trail and less sky

Stan Collymore is a Chase icon. I’ve never seen him there - but it’s not somewhere I ride at night.
All super helpful, thank you!
Lower Cliff? - Nehhhh, I remember when this was all just trees!!
There was a carved bench somewhere at the top of one bit with a nice view.....
You’ll be guaranteed a good view at Ansons Bank.
The view from the cafe across the car park where you can see someone you don't recognise putting your bike in their van?
I always think the boardwalk section looks good and really shows off Cannock at it's best.

Or maybe the bit before you come back into the main carpark?

@singlespeedstu - they look mint! Have you got grid references for both of those spots?
Sorry dude they were taken a few years ago so it's pointless giving a grid reference as it all looks total different now.
Just imagine the same view but with a few more tracky bottoms and fullface helmets.
Ahh, no worries. Thanks anyway
They are not even of Cannock justinbeiber.
Are you sure?
It's defo Cannock.
Rugeley power station is just out of shot behind the Italian/Swiss border in the second pic. The first pic is taken from the Upper Cliff chair lift.
Someone's fibbing. You can see the Nationwide building in the valley.
I thought so. It’s amazing just how different the view is when the trees have been cleared
