I've just given up on my cane creek angleset after 3 months of trying to get it to work without any play and gone back to my normal hope headset.

I've followed the installation instructions exactly (several times over), yet I still couldnt get it to work properly. There was always the tiniest amount of movement in the gimbals, which couldnt be felt by rocking the bike when stationary, but could be felt when hammering down a rocky trail/jumping off lips/landing.

Now back to my old hope headset and everything feels rock solid again.

The real question is did you need the extra degree?

I actually slacked it out by 1.5 degrees, but I have to be honest, I couldnt tell any difference.

Maybe now I've gone back I will notice the difference??

If I do, I'll be going for a works components headset instead.

Surprised you didn't notice the difference.
I did with a WC 1 degree on my 5 spot.
