I'm in the process of sorting out a 2 or 3 week Canada trip. Starting in Banff and ending up on Vancouver Island with the Rocky Mountaineer in-between. I want to fit some mountain biking in at these start and end points and I'm looking for recommendations for companies who can provide bike hire and guiding (two companies I doubt anyone covers both locations). I'm travelling with a wife and some friends who don't ride so I need a nice simple package were I can escape and get maximum riding in a day. Not looking for anything too extreme, more XC than enduro, but I don't mind getting my wheels off the ground if necessary.

Any suggestions who to contact?

If you are anywhere near Revelstoke then Wandering Wheels are recommended, not cheap but we had a great day out with them. They will tailor to fit with whatever you are looking for and the trails in the area are really good, cracking town as well.

Sorry just re-read and see you were after something at the start or end of trip, the above probably isn’t much good to you...

Island Mountain Rides for the Island.
Some great riding on the island! Cumberland/Courtney and Mt Washington being the bigger hubs.
Hornby Island (2 ferries from the island) is superb also..

Alberta 66 mountain bike in Calgary.

They can also sort you out with a rental if required.

Full disclosure. They are friends of mine but Jeff and Laura are both great.

Kananaskis and Canmore would be better for mountain biking. Close to Banff. I suspect you’ll be able to rent a bike in either place. The bike shops could also recommend guides. If they can’t, the Trailforks app is a great tool for planning a ride. The “gradient visualization tool” lets you see how gnarly the trails are.

Alberta 66 and Island Mountain Rides both look good. I'll get in touch as soon as the dates are finalised.

Any other suggestion?
