Can the left hand shifter be set to run with a double chainset? I know I could adjust the stops on the front mech and limit the shifter to one click that way, but it looks like you can set an XT left shifter for either 2 chainrings or 3.

Is there a similar feature on SLX?

There is on mine. Look for the switch underneath the shifter.

Yes, as above. The shifters have a small switch to select gearing type.

I run 2x10 with the old slx 9 double crank and double mech.

I think I'll be on the M660 ones so might be out of luck 🙁

Might be able to pick up a cheap double front mech?

Had this set up when running 2x9 no problems using M660 triple SLX shifters and a front mech with the limit screw adjusted so it was impossible to shift. In fact going back to this set up next week although it seems CRC have the double SLX front mech for £20.
