Anyone recommend any good campsites that allow fires / have fire pits in the lakes?
Preferably within half an hour walk from a pub, but not mandatory. Especially if there's a proper ride from the door 🙂
Nice. Ta 🙂
Any in t' north, just out of interest?
Coniston Site lets you have fire pits
Fisherground in Eskdale does, although it's not very 'north' in the Lakes!
Lanefoot at Braithwaite
Lane foot is what your after
Danke 🙂
There's one in Boot which we stayed at as part of the LakeLand200. They had firepits next to the pitches. Was superb. Just googled the location and found it by satellite view. Fisherground Campsite. circular camp road a small pond for the nippers to splash in. Boot Inn is up the road, and some other stuff t'other way into Eskdale.
From the campsite we rode up the road toward Hardknott and got on the trail towards Wasdale and Blacksail pass
There’s one in Boot...
Stayed there about 10 years ago. No idea what it's like now (they did have fire pits then), but it was a lovely little place. 5 min walk to the pub, and very little else around for miles. Campsite itself I seem to remember was quite active, but peaceful the second you walk outside.
Another shout for Lanefoot here!
+1 for Lanefoot Farm. Really relaxed, you get a car wheel at each pitch and can buy wood from the reception. Close to Keswick and whinlatter. Our favourite site.
