Can anyone recommend a campsite near dumfries ? Somewhere near a pub !
Riding AE / Mabie and Drumlanrig so around that neck of the woods rather than out towards Kirrough

cheers, Done some searches as above and have a lot of links, but really looking for a recommendation from someone on here who found the campsite well located, bike friendly and close to pub for grub !
Quite often i've found the scottish campsites to be more suited to touring caravans.

Marthrown or Mabie house then.
Marthrown is just up the hill from Mabie house therefore you can ride, eat and sleep in the forest otherwise the remit of being able to walk to a pub makes it difficult :lol:[url=

The one at Powfoot is on a Sustrans route and is well used by the touring brigade, seen lots this week. Powfoot is not that far from Dumfries with the nearest town being Annan.[url= http://www.thepowfootgolfhotel.co.uk/ ]Pub just along the road[/url]

The odd camper has wild camped in Mabie or by the banks of the river at Ae if that`s your thing so long as you refrain from lighting a camp fire 💡

penpont campsite is ace and you can ride to Drumlanrig.
Also camping at Glen Midge.
