Looking to spend a week away in July in the van - needs to be plenty of rides nearby (nothing gnarly as Mrs V will be with me - but pref off road routes)

So go on, hit me up with your favourite places…..UK only….ta

The Black Mountains is my default answer. Plenty of easy to follow off road riding, absolutely loads if you include stuff not obviously shown on the maps. Very quiet in terms of visitor numbers. Close to plenty of other stuff. Easy to reach from the rest of the UK. And great campsites 😉

D & G for the 7 stanes, or Aberfoyle for gravel riding depending on the definition of gnarly.

Aharon answer the question of where are we - Cheshire - so a couple or three hours drive would be good -

The black mountains recommendation from @welshfarmer above has me discover the Taff Trail - that looks ideal - anyone got any camping or cottage recommendations on the route??

Finding a campsite with available pitches in July might be difficult. I normally don't book and just turn up but since covid if you don't book way in advance you won't get in.

I tried to be subtle so as not to be accused of stealth advertising, but you could camp here near to Llanthony 😉

Drop me a PM for more info

Probably OK if you're going before the schools break up. Our peak summer trip has been booked since January but I've just booked one (tent not camper to be fair) for early July for a sailing event in the last couple of days and despite the fact it's on the Dorset coast there seemed to be good availability. I reckon people may be flocking off to Spain again this year.

We headed up to the East Coast between Hull to Whitby. Found a couple of sites (Hook House Farm near Robin Hoods Bay recommended - really steep but nice views) and enjoyed a week about 5 years ago.

Cycling was fine for me and my wife (who is not really a cyclist). We did;
Some route south into Hull (nice lunch and then back)
The Cinder Track, between Scarborough and Whitby
Dalby Forest for a day

Was a part of the UK we had not bothered to explore before but was a nice week.

Behold, Britain’s most beautiful campsite:

I wasn’t sure where I knew Seaton Carew from, it took a while but isn’t it famous for the guy that paddled out to sea and faked his death?

Don’t go to Eyemouth Sea Aire… we checked it out, a back yard basically, it makes Seaton Carew look luxurious! However, if you’ve got a toilet onboard then Washbrook Farm, Fenny Bentley, near Ashbourne is good. Tissington Trail behind, good views, two pubs close by and a 35 minute steady walk into Ashbourne. Dovedale within walking distance too.
Direct message me if you need any more info.
