theres a campsite on the otherside of the road from the glentress hill and towards the town and at that tiny roundabout if heading away from glentress hill you go left, its really good hot showers - nice folk ect.. much recommended for camping.

Crossburn campsite in Peebles is pretty good, It's just as you leave town heading for Edinburgh.

I've never stayed at glentrail- no point, I'm too nearby- but Rich is a cool guy, lots of guesthouses etc are "bike friendly" but how many of the owners are out digging on a saturday, or throwing energy into local events? Or letting their flash stickered-up mobile advert pickup be used to haul barrows, mattocks and a whacker plate (plus a load of trailbuilders balanced on top) up a dodgy steep fire road?

If you want something more budget, check if glentress forest lodges are open yet, these wigwam villages are ace. OK, so you're living in a garden shed essentially, but that's pretty nice, I've stayed at a similiar site at tyndrum and it's ace- like a tent, only better.

Stay in the town, it's pretty lively and there's plenty to do.
You can ride out to the trails in the morning or take the car to one of 2x car parks.

There's an upstairs bar, about 1/2 way along the main street on the left that's full of fun on an evening - the later the better. Even when I don't drink much I had 2 good night here.
The indian at the bottom on the right is excellent.
The high street prides its self on having boutique shops and not the usual suspects, Boots, Currys, banks & now charity shops et al.
There are pleny of b&b in the town. Google would be my suggestion.

one campsite is just off edinburgh road and the other is hidden in a maze of peebles streets. nothing to the left of that roundabout other than playing fields.

I plan on taking my Brother, Nephew and young son down for the Stramash in September, we're gonna camp, so I'm watching this thread with interest.

Try this place - www.bunk-house.co.uk

Really well set up for mountain biking and minutes away from Inners and Glentress.

I liked it anyway.
