Yes I know it's a road crank but still thought I'd ask here.
I've heard good things about these cranks, supposedly better than other ali cranks. Is the UT system harder to fit than shimano HT2? Do I need the campag tools or can I just use my shimano HT2 spanner and a long hex key?

Doddle to fit, not used HT2 though so can't compare. I bought the Campag tool - you need a fair amount of leverage to get them as tight as they need to be, but a long 10mm hex key would do the job providing it has a nice long lever on it.

I can't remember which tools I used, but I certainly don't have anything campag specific and it was a super quick job ๐Ÿ˜€

I have them on my cross bike, just use a long 10mm allen key with something suitable over the end as a lever (extension bar and a socket from my socket set)

Any opinions on them vs HT2? I'm going to upgrade chainset (3piece HT1) and 105 and veloce are similar prices and it sounds just as easy to fit so not sure which to go for.

They are neater than HT2. Since the connector is in the middle of the BB, making them narrower at the BB, giving better ankle clearance.

They look nicer. No different function-wise IME.

They are very nice cranks... Fitting is a piece of piss, but when it comes to bearing replacement they are more of a pain in the ass... Also you will need to check the torque after the first couple of rides as the 10mm bolt settles a little. I prefer shimano personally, but that's just because some campag spares are **** and hard to get a hold of in my experience.
