I’m looking to buy a new hydration pack and fancy the Camelbak Octane LR. I have never used a Camelbak before but have a couple of Hydrapaks. One thing I like about the Hydrapak is that it uses a Velcro strap and pad arrangement on the end of the drink tube to retain the tube on the sternum strap to stop it flapping about when riding.

I can’t find any reference to it on the Camelbak website or in any tests but was wondering if Camelbak have any similar retaining system for the end of the tube? If not, I would like to hear any user opinions if this is a problem or not.

They have loops on both shoulder straps to run the hose through, and you can just get a bit of velcro and do the same thing on the sternum strap, but you don't need to.

They also have a movable clip too that helps.
