Its time to replace my trusty Rogue, I normally travel light (couple of tubes, multitool etc) and want to step up to a 3L bladder for longer rides.
Does anyone have a Camelbak Octance XCT? and if so is it any good? The bungee strap on the bag is appealing as I'll be able to carry my waterproof with me.
The other options include the Camelbak Charge 450 but I think this is too big for my needs.
Isn't the octane a 2l waist level bladder? I liked at the charge LR but decided the additional back coverage was going to be really sweaty and still only carry 2l so no real improvement (other than kit storage which I'd not normally use) than my rouge
I have the LR one that I bought for racing and trail running. It's very light and great for my intended purpose. Enough capacity for most essentials and a feather weight jacket but would rate it as an all day pack. I have a MULE for that. Wouldn't think it would take too much punishment if you used it everyday.
They are very small, would say race or running pack only. I purchased one and struggled to get multi tool, tube and snack in pockets, it was stuffed with no room for car keys. The elastic on back is very small would have to be feather weight jacket if at all. I sold mine after one use and have lobo... very happy with it.
there is a version with a waist level bladder but Octane XCT has 3l "back" bladder.
Have used one since last year, find it far tougher than it looks and holds all the basics for a days ride (food/waterproof/keys/phone/cash/buff) - I do carry tools/CO2 under the saddle though as it means they're "always there" whatever pack (if any) I use.
I have an Octane 18 from a few years ago, while its not really a cycling pack, I rate it. Great shape and hip support so you can run it low down your back.
