[Closed] Calf rubbing on rear tyre

I've always had big calf mussels, nothing to do with riding, they just are big, especially on my 'normal' 5'10" frame. When leaning the bike through aggressive corners they occasionally buzz on the rear tyre, which after a long ride has cause anything from mild bruising through to full on blood dripping down my leg bleeding, and it hurts!

Does anyone else have this issue? Is it my riding style I should be trying to cure?

Does she have an itch? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your inside foot should either be up or forward (or a bit of both), so if you're leaning the bike whilst keeping yourself more upright then your inside calf should be well away from the rear tyre. So something must be up with your body/bike position which can be corrected to stop your tyre savaging you!

you could always get some shin pads with wrap around neoprene fasteners?

But otherwise it's probably technique - your calfs (calves?) should be further from the tyre in corners, not closer.

I did briefly catch a heel on the rear side wall on Sunday, but that was entirely due to being out of shape on the bike, things going a bit squiffy over some roots...

Otherwise No, I'd say Heels/calves should not be contacting the rear tyre, unless perhaps you are the Hulk, riding a fat bike...

Fit a narrower tyre? You'll go faster.

I don't understand how it's even possible to rub your leg, I'm going to have to go for a ride round the block to try it out.
