Can you use any old cable brake lever with disc callipers, or are they different in some way?
I have some dual control deore lever/shifters that I want to upgrade my wife's bike to cable discs with if possible. They came on a bike with v brakes, does this matter.

I have used any levers with my old set of mechanical disc brakes. Always worked fine for me.

As long as they're V levers you'll be fine.

Yup V-brake levers will be fine.
Used some old XT levers with Tektro cable discs they were actually pretty good.

Non-v brake levers will work with the road version of, for example, BB7s

Nice one cheers, they're deff v brake levers so should be fine then.
