Thinking of doing this next year over 3 days and bivvying along the way. Anyone done this before? Got any advice and/or tips for good bivvying sites?

The Sustrans route?

Easily do-able in day.

unless you have to go to sunderland, go to tynemouth, much nicer ๐Ÿ™‚

if you can get an early start its doable in a day. if not, 2 days easy. good bivvy spot at hartside near some mine workings, 1km or so north-ish of the hairpin in the road on the way up just before the cafe - on OS 1:50k map

as for start, theres a good little bunk house near whitehaven its on lakeland camping barns website. cheap but u'll need u sleeping bag (which i presume you'll have anyway if bivvying!) ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd be taking the off road routes and planning for it to be a pleasant ride rather than a trip to the pain cave , 50 miles a day will be fine

Good for you. Three days is nice, especially if you have some distance to travel to the start and at the end.

With regard to the finishing point I wouldn't be hanging around long, a quick pint or 3 and then off to a bunkhouse in the lakes to meet up with a few mates.
