Congratulations on the new job. Hope it's all you hope it will be and the 'fun' element doesn't dwindle. 🙂
Nice one! which is what I said when I received the rear mech you sent me 🙂
Well done mate. Not at all jealous in any way 😉
Well done.
You do realise your first job will be the tool boards? 😉
I can only get better at those!
I work in Staines and pop in from time to time. Nice guys , don't spoil it 🙂
Well done fella.
Ps the m3 m25 is a pain so try windlessham ,long cross Staines as a commute 🙂

The A30 through Frimley, Bagshot, Egham to Staines is virtually a straight line for me. I came back that way, took 25 mins..... By motorbike. 🙂
Tunnel Hill / Canal / Thames / Staines
If summer ever comes...
I've worked with / known Dan and Tim for 15+ years - great people. Great work ethic - work hard but enjoyable too.

Gee, nice ride, but stuff me that's a loooooooong way round to get there!
Nice to do once in a while 🙂

Nice and easy on a bike , it should be a doddle.
If you like sushi Staines has sushi Nara which is nice . Momos is good for Asian food and the market on Wednesday has a few stalls who do some great grub.
Hope it goes well. Congrats
Cool, well done!
Cynic-al, what you u to then?
Well done.
I assume just mentioning you own a Saracen was enough to secure the job...
When you see Tim say hi from me and ask him about fireworks and car parks.

Well done! Does this mean no more private jobs / projects? I had one up my sleeve for you.....
joins in good news applause thing
Well done Peter, good news.
And, this:
Does this mean no more private jobs / projects? I had one up my sleeve for you.....
😉
Good work fella.
Congratulations. Enjoy your new job.
Great news fella.
🙂
Well done PP I admire your determination to get the job - it may not pay the best but hopefully you will get the satisfaction to more than make up for it.
Nice one. Huge congrats 🙂
Nice one.
Shame you have to work in Staines tho 😉
Well done pp!
Congratulations.
Been in the Windsor branch a couple of times didn't know there was another one in Staines, it's not that far from me, if I ever need anything I'll give 'em a try.
High Five!
Well done PP...
Firstly well done PP
From your posts it's clear that you do not suffer fools gladly, have you done a course in dealing with numpties ?
Good luck to you, I look forward to future "Tales from the LBS" threads.
😉
Well done, you seem to have put a lot of effort into getting this, hope it works out for you.
Well done! Does this mean no more private jobs / projects? I had one up my sleeve for you.....
Well. There's the thing. Yes, I'll be carrying on with the private work. I live far enough from the shop to not be taking their trade, which is handy, and after 3 months I'll get parts at trade prices, which is also handy! 🙂 But I won't have the time on my hands to do more than one or two jobs a week, as I'll be working weekends.
But I do realise I now have a small set of 'loyal customers' that I must keep happy. 🙂

It's opposite Debenhams on the corner of Thames Street (?) right on the pedestrian, crossing, but bizarrely difficult to spot......
Nice one.

True, but there's worse places. 🙂 And I might end up in Windsor at some point I suppose.
Great news PP. I don't know you nor you me but I have found myself agreeing with many of your posts. It,s always good to hear things working out for people, especially when they invest time money and effort. Hope all works well.
Excellent stuff, living the dream.
This, cynic-al and CTBM make me think I should stuff this corporate malarkey...
Top effort, hope you have many enriching days
But I do realise I now have a small set of 'loyal customers' that I must keep happy.
I don't think my project would impinge on your lbs work. Will send you an email.
Hey, that was rather tongue in cheek....! 🙂
😀
Great news, congratulations.
Well done PP - nice to see an employment/lifestyle story work out this well!
My bike's knackered if you're ever in Liverpool... 😉
Will there be a peter poddy bike workshop masterclass at the big bike bash now 🙂
Congrats!
well done peter. good to see stuff like this; live the dream fella!
Well done PP, glad you got there in the end.
Hope all goes well, enjoy.
Nice nice one Pete. Good luck. Hoping to attract you and your Mrs down our way for an STW ride this summer - I still remember the vegetable-based cakes 🙂
Congratulations Pete. Well done for making a brave move. I hope itr works out well for you. Just dont let them pay you in shiny bits, not all of it anyway. 😀
Well done Pete, glad to hear you've succeeded in getting a job you wanted! Never visited but looks like it should be a good shop, certainly got some nice (mainly road) brands on board. I can see you on a Bianchi or a Cervelo in no time! 😉
From your posts it's clear that you do not suffer fools gladly, have you done a course in dealing with numpties ?
I only wish this wasn't the case, but sadly more often than not, as a bike mechanic in a shop, your customer facing part of the job is too much in balance of ego stroking and less of being forthright and to the point. Like you, I tend to be quite straight talking and don't mince my words, but whereas in many trades this is seen as an admirable quality, in bicycle retail all too often it is not sadly. Despite the fact the customer is paying you £35 an hour or so to fix their bike, you've got to remember that they still know more about it than you, and that they're always right! 😉
Minor jest aside, cyclists (especially roadies) have fragile egos in general, so learn from my mistakes, and be a bit softly softly with customers until you get to know them better as individuals.
Well done PP, glad you got there in the end.
Hope all goes well, enjoy.
Well, so do I. 🙂
It might be a mistake, who knows, but I doubt it. Better to regret doing something than not doing it, right?
From your posts it's clear that you do not suffer fools gladly, have you done a course in dealing with numpties
Well, yes and no. I'm quite capable of biting my lip where fools are concerned but I TOTALLY understand why people don't want to work on their own bikes, or are unable to, and it honestly gives me quite a kick to hand a bike back and see someone ride off with a smile. I never get sick of that.
Well done on getting a job you really want, and dealing with daft punters gets easier with practice 🙂
Congrats - a nice result and you've obviously worked hard to get it. Just got round to fitting the Sids i bought off you to the Mrs bike - if you find any more let me know!!! 🙂
