Great innit? 🙂
Not at all just an excuse to trawl the bike shops obsessing over two-wheeled things. Just bought the little lady (5) her first 'proper' bike for Christmas

She says she wants to go up to the lake district first, when she's got a real bike. Oh...must we?
And one of these for the very little'un (2)

What have you bought then? And where are you going riding on boxing day?
Islabike Beinn 20 small for my 5yr old to go with his brother's large from last year. Hampstead Heath ponds on Boxing Day.
Islabike Cnoc 16 for my boy...can't wait to see his face 😀
Collected a Isla Rothan from Ludlow on Friday for my son, still in its box waiting for Santa to collect.
The new HQ is lush.
I just got one of those Cnoc's for my 3 year old. Why do you want to change the freewheel?

32:16 the only singlespeed ratio 😉
Only word of caution I will offer is after getting my daughter a Ridgeback Melody for her 4th birthday is not to push them too far too quickly!
A mate is into BMXing so I took her to Hayes track and she loved it - managed to ride a complete lap from the top of the start ramp after riding for only 2 days.
However, when we went to the local woods where I assumed she'd find it easy, she went really fast down a steepish hill (I was running next to her but she felt out of control) and her confidence has taken a real knock. Still happy at the BMX track, but now is too scared to ride without me holding her saddle in the woods.
Wifey has given me an ear bashing but I'm pretty sure that once she has a few more miles under her belt she'll be fine!
Got my 9yr old a XS commencal normal coming from the classifieds
Anyone upgrading want to pass on a balance bike to my soon to be 2yr old, after Xmas as her birthday is in Feb.
make sure you get her some gloves as well as a helmet.
the kids need them even more than we do to save those little soft palms when they crash.
Moving up from a Rothan to Cnoc 14, cant wait for Xmas day, little mite is 3 tomorrow.
Now, at what age can I take him to Morzine / Les Gets ?
due to cash issues I've gone 2nd hand for my eldest (3.5) - Ridgeback MX16 which I'm currently giving a bit of TLC - should be a sweet 1st proper bike!
andyfla - are you selling the Rothan?
I got my daughter a pink Giro Flume helmet and some pink Polaris mitts which she absolutely loves because they are 'the same as daddy's'!!!?
She has come off a couple of times and takes great pleasure in telling me that she is OK because she has some cycling gloves on!
She has a Melody 16 (girls version of the MX16) but at 4 and reasonably tall, I had to chop the seat post and invert the seatclamp to get the saddle low enough for her to touch the floor.

sorry mate, hoping for number 2 so still keeping hold of it.
Ive never bought my kids bikes as a present for an actual occasion.
Maybe just my attitude, but they need a bike that fits (its a bit like shoes), so when they outgrow one, they get a new one. (and no i'm not rich, or stupid, just until they stop growing so quick, i think its only fair).
Swift - MemberIve never bought my kids bikes as a present for an actual occasion.
you get the two birds with one stone benefit at xmas or bday, though, surely? 🙂
I have had two bikes in storage (loft) for the last 6mths. Lets just say they were a bargain and i didnt want the hastle i have had in previous years getting hold of Spesh kids bikes at christmas.
So a 12" & 20" Spesh Hotrock will be waiting for my girl & boy on christmas day 🙂 The little lass will be off riding quick smart. Her borther learnt at 4 but his sister is a very determined scamp so i expect her to be riding even quicker. Hoping the lad can progress from the blues & greens he was riding this year onto the odd red next year with the help of the gears.
Oh and if anyone wants to buy a good condition blue Spesh Hotrock 16" it will be available pre christmas 😉
I bought a Scott Nitrous junior for my eight year old in the summer added a decent fork and sram bits and bobs. Looks great and am jealous and prowd as I'm sure he'll love it and hopefully I'll be out in Swinley Forest on Boxing Day. Perhaps that was my subconscious plan all along...!
Bought my 12 year old a extra small santa cruz juliana frame
And will build up the bike by breaking down my bike. So will have fox forks and xt throughout
Some may say that is too much bike for a kid.
But honestly we have the best dad and son time when we are bombing around ytrail centres
Boxing day will see us at Whinlatter. Him on his new bike and seeing as I am breaking down my bike for his build I am also getting a new bike.
Can't wait
