We're about to buy a van for camping, bike hauling and exploring duties. Private sale and whilst I can check the basics is getting an AA. check worthwhile? How comprehensive/worthwhile is it? Advice appreciated!

I bought a van a few years back and did an RAC check on it.

Below is a sample of the report you would receive.

That's not a condition report though, really you need a mechanic to do a pre mot check if you are that worried.Or if it's a VEEDUB bus just join the AA as they breakdown all over Cornwall every summer

Sonor, I think the OP means a physical check of the vehicle by an AA mechanic. I considered one for my van but in the end decided that I was capable of doing the basic checks for myself. If its from a dealer I wouldn't bother with the AA check as you have a warranty of sorts anyway.

the aa check is a good idea.there are a few different levels you can choose from a basic check to afull report.

i work for merc benz & boy are they thorough.a £300.00 check on a 20k car is a good idea.
