A mate wants to buy a whole bike, so I'm looking for options.

He basically wants something like the 456 builds that On One do.

Any others?

Budget is £1000-1400

Genesis have the Alpitude but a bit over budget it seems.

Ragley has complete Blue Pigs in the pipeline - within budget, though not sure when they'll appear. There's some stuff about it on their web site.

I have a BFe and I love it. for 1400 you could build a great bike, might have to get a few sh parts but it rides so well.

spotted that bullheart but none in stock.

The 456 is the default choice I agree, and hard to beat value-wise. Just seeing if there are some other options.

Evans have Alpitude but only in 16.5" so it depends how big your mate is.

seem to remember it got a decent review in the mag. money saved can go toward upgrades when bit wear out.

edit.. not steel, but still good VFM.

Personally would buy whole rig second hand - could prob pick up a lovely Soul or a BFe for that kind of money. Would also stick to steel for hardtail imo.
