Just left the house on my commuter bike and half a mile from home my rear wheel is rubbing lots.
Check week old (V, yeah old school) brake pads in case one was loose.

Nope, the rim sidewall has cracked and blown out 🙁

Ironically I replaced a broken spoke/trued it last week at work and was saying to a colleague it was worn but probably ok until autumn.
Weirdly this happened 3 or 4 years ago (much more dramatic-big bang/puncture and half the rim hanging off), on the same bit of road within 100m of the same spot. What are the chances of that??

Now to source a new 26’’ 36 h black Mavic 317..

Sh*t happens... at least rims with disk brakes last longer.

26in are cheap as chips now secondhand, I bought a pair of Mavic rimmed, Hope hubs, disks, tyres and cassette for 65 quid the other day.

Good luck!

Could have been worse. If it was the front one it could have caught on the brake pad & thrown you off.
