I need to do some work in and around London, and my travel would be much easier if I could take my Brompton down with me.

I’ll be on the train down, but returning flying out of City. Does anyone have any experience of taking a Brompton on BA, specifically whether they’ll let me ship it in an Ikea Dimpa bag, and whether they’ll throw it around like any other piece of luggage?

The issue will be the conveyor belts that transport the luggage not the people.

Unless you pad it expect damage.

It'll definitely get chucked around like other luggage. Baggage handling is a separate company nothing to do with BA. I think they would let you travel with it in an Ikea bag (if it is strapped up) I just don't think you would want to. For a one off maybe just bubble wrap it with a few strategic bits of cardboard and lots of tape.

I do flights to Holland with mine. I surround it with card and put it in a soft bag then leave the card and bag in left luggage in Ams and pick it up on return. It does get chucked around a bit and once the mudguard wheel was broken, but generally ok.

Hmm, a mixed bag of responses. For the sake of one trip I think it can stay at home.

Thanks all!
