[#6199835]

Went for a great ride today until I went down some steps, and broke my rear mech.

Do I bin it or repair it? Can I use XT parts to repair it?

P.S It was an M986 rear mech

Looks knackered. Buy XT replacement.

Thought so, wanted a second opinion before buying.

Would have said that's fixable with a new cage and new mech bolt?

If it was just the cage then maybe. But if you've bent the body twisting the mount like that in the first pic it's toast.

Replace your mech hanger also... I'd be surprised if that's still straight.

That top mount doesn't remove does it? If so might be doable. Depends on condition of mech overall, likely to be nearly xt replacement money to fix I think.

If it's a 986 then it's direct mount compatible and that means the part in the first photo is replaceable.

Replace it and keep it for spares when you bend the next one! I went for Zee as it was short cage after my last rear mech fubar!

Both bit are replaceable, if you can find the parts, also the cost of both might not that far off a new mech.

You could fit a Zee cage to it if you wanted to go shorter. Any Shadow Plus cage will fit.

Might be repairable but I would be amazed if the body itself isnt misaligned
