I'm thinking of trying a couple of night rides over the next few weeks up at Ashton Court and/or Leigh Woods.
What's it like up there in the dark? Safe enough?
I bought one of those 1600 Lumen Halfords specials today so I'm itching to try it out, but I'm feeling a little apprehensive about being alone in the woods at night...
You won't be alone. But in a good way.
We ride a mix of Tuesday & Wednesday nights and usually see other riders. Conditions are good at the moment.
Take a phone and make sure someone knows roughly where you will be.
So far for me it’s been fine, but it does feel creepy in the dark riding alone! Makes me ride faster for sure.
There are a few groups of lads who ride up there - we’ve got a WhatsApp group of guys who ride - normally a couple of people riding on any given night. Usually wednesdays but sometimes Tuesdays or Thursdays.
I’d say I could join you on a ride, but I’m off my bike for a few weeks after a crash which has messed up my knee at the moment.
