I ride most stuff including trail centres but in the summer I enjoy the local bridleways more than other types of MTBing - am I sad is this the "golf" of mountain bikes?

Surely trail centres are the golf of MTB?

Anyway, 'our survey says' you're not on your own:

Surrounded by bridleways here, with a bit of towpath and Sustrans routes we can easily put together 20-30 mile routes with very little road.

Not rad or gnar, but in the golden light on a warm summers evening, it's a great way to build up a thirst!

Have never been to a trail centre; do almost all my riding on PROW.

(The bits that aren't are few and far between and, um, aren't on PROW)

I think it's the rambling of mountain biking, rather than the golf, and, personally, I love it. I'd generally rather chew my own arm off than go to a trail centre.

The joy of being able to read a map, explore, explore some more and then put together an epic route, is to me, what it's all about!

A trail centre is more like the golf course!

What's happened to those between 25-30% and between 50-55% and between 75-80%? Don't their views count? ๐Ÿ˜†

Even trails centres aren't as bad as golf!

^^ THIS ^^

I find that trail centres are more and more being designed to cater for longer and longer travel bikes. I remember when the 9feet.com trail first opened at Afan, and it was great fun riding it on an 80mm hardtail. I rode the Blade & Skyline trail at Afan last week and although it was ride-able on a 120mm hardtail 29er, it wasn't much fun. But, maybe it's me getting older...

I must admit that some trail centres have become so full suss orientated in the worn out rutted surfaces that to pedal the full circuit you end up standing the whole ride on a hardtail. I still ride them just with fatter rubber or ideally on my full suss. I find off piste or PROW trails can be just as much fun and very often more technical in challenges than trail centres.
Still, getting out riding a bike anywhere is better than no bike ride!

Bridleways are cool.
Trail centres are cool.
Cheeky trails would be cool if any of us rode them...

It's all riding your bike.

Yes, that's what I ride the majority of the time. Really do feel though that the Rights of Way network needs to be brought into the 21st Century by addressing needs of users.

Agreed. Starting with all footpaths being turned into cycle paths.

It all I ride off road tbh. If I had a trail centre near by I think I would use a fair amount for an easy and quick session, like I did skate parks when I rode bmx but I prefer the going on a journey aspect of using ROW.

Nope! There needs to be more joining up especially if busy roads are involved.

What does riding PROW at a trail centre count as? (e.g. Grizedale but will maybe use about 3km of NFT)
