Given how long it took to sort out Tadcaster Bridge I really can't see that being fixed in time

I think the cycling is the least of people's worries up there at the moment.

I think the cycling is the least of people’s worries up there at the moment.

At the moment it certainly is, making sure people are safe and the damage is limited as much as humanly possible is the priority. In coming weeks and months through the message that The Dales is in business and getting money from the many thousands of visitors to the area to bring the local shops, cafes, and other businesses back from the brink of collapse will be a very high priority for the locals. Whether the money is made available quick enough for temporary infrastructure repairs (see Pooly bridge for an example) is a different matter.

Hopefully they'll just go over to Redmire instead. Would be a double whammy if they just decided to knock Buttertubs/Reeth/Grinton off the route and just go straight down Wensleydale.
