Fantastic - Hopefully I can make this one. Could be quite a challenge in January though! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Ah wicked! Going home so will be riding brechfa before brekkie most mornings. Does it only use the trail centre or does it actually use sone of the awesome natural stuff?

Will depend to a certain extent on weather. But

...timed sections using the Gorlech trail and other singletrack sections you may not know exist in this great forest.
. Pretty sure awesomeness will be included.

January eh ? If the weathers like it was the last couple of years it could be very interesting !
Should mean less midges though. My son and I almost got bitten to death marshalling the last couple of events.

Hey Taff another 12 weeks of closures for most of Brechfa, the red is open. the natural tracks I use are passable but its becoming too risky with machines and the odd Forestry Commission guys catching me. Stick to the New Inn pencader entrance.

Oh you're joking! I thought it was just down Nantyffin! Gutted. Are they working up near the wet weather shed? If I can't ride there then I'll do Doethie but I'm quite happy with being chased!

The work at the moment is on the bit beside the Nantyffin - between the start of the green and the culvert below Watkins wood (before the start of the blue). The black and the green are both affected on this stretch. If you can get past those there's no problem currently that I've seen. This may well change.
After about 5 in the evening there's no contractors or FC guys around. Went out last night and saw no-one.
You might have problems in the morning unless you're out before 8, which when they usually start working.

Wet weather shed is OK. If you park near Bank farm there's a few quick loops from there.

My Dad lives in Rhydcymerau... Think if I didn't ride to Bank farm he would actually shoot me! That's fine I can ride that side of things and do Gwernogle etc. Thanks for the updates

Would this be a good event for a first race? Not done any sort of event before. Know Brechfa so wouldn't be unfamiliar.

I think it would be a perfect first event, as although some parts will be timed it will be largely untimed and very social.

If you know Brechfa then yes. My first xc and dh race was in brechfa and it's awesome. I don't know where the course is likely to take you but if it's using a lot of natural trails the. You would be in for a treat.

Finally in Rhydcymerau now. Can hear my bike calling me to go for an early morning spin...

Me and my girlfriend have also looked at this as our first ever event ... are we going to be biting off more than we can chew? (not exactly super fit yet!!!)

This is a 'gravity enduro' event rather than a 12/24 hour enduro right? If so looks fun! Anyone know if Brechfa forest is open, think I read somewhere on the net that they are logging up there so it's all closed at the mo.

Green/Blue/Black out of Byrgwm are officially closed (they've put gates across the entrance to the car park), Red out of Abergorlech still open, people still riding Green/Blue/Black unofficially at evenings and weekends.

Not so much a gravity enduro, more of a Rally car style, with 3 timed sections, up, down & flattish, then linked with some nice riding.

Yes, but don't want people too hung up on the gravity bit, thinking it's all down, there is a lot of up too!

Sowould be more hardtail suited than full bouncer for the race?

Brechfa is all fully doable on hardtail.
