Visiting Brechfa Friday, the sometimes outdated and unreliable MB Wales site states that Harvesting operations have temporarily closed the Derwen and Raven trail until December, are these trails still closed?

Also,I am going to be riding the Gorlech and Raven back to back, is there a link connecting the trails? if so where is it? (nearest marker post).

Many Thanks.

All trails are fully open.
The link from the red to the black is about 9/10ths of the way round the red before the final descent. You come up a fire road and the red goes straight on a single track. Bend right and follow the fire road for about a mile, then turn right up a hill and you'll come to the black on the right going up into the trees.
Follow the black around and you'll eventually come back to almost exactly where you left the red.

Follow the black around

That's the hard bit! Towards the end of the black there's a descent shared with the blue. If you're going for it, it's very easy to miss the small sign that directs you to the final, and best, section of the black.

Unless it's changed since I was last there.

Doing it from the red it's on the second section of the black.
As you descend the blue look out for some orange barrier netting on the descent - the black turns off to the left at this point.

yes but the singletrack bit from there to the last black section is utter pants.
its worth ridng the rest of the blue which is amazing down to where the blue crosses the next fireroad.
ride the fireroad down, then up to the start of the black. - even though you had to ride fireroad the blue section more than makes up the shitty black singletrack section

Cheers Guys,

I have ridden the Red and Blue at Brechfa previously, both excellent trails, Look forward to giving the black a try Friday.

And I will be stopping off at the Short yet excellent Cwm Rhaeadr on the way home.
