Bit of a tumble on Sunday left me grumpy in A&E... slipped out on a slab and managed to punch the floor.
[img] [/img]
Impact managed to snap the pedal axle..
A short 5 hrs later with some inconclusive x-rays off home with a temp cast
[img] [/img]
Back this morning for a CT scan and 4hrs waiting for the verdict
Non displaced fracture in the end of the radius somewhere, non surgical and a proper cast...

Really wish I'd had breakfast this morning after that wait in case it was surgical.

Also trying to work out when I broke my scaphoid as it's apparently healed nicely which was part of the confusing x-rays

So 6 weeks of fun ahead

Ouch! Sounds like it should heal up pretty well though.

I'm impressed that you managed to snap a pedal axle. Better that than a leg.

Disappointed. Clicked on this thread expecting to lambast you for poor spelling and to read about a conversion from v brakes to discs

On a serious note good luck with healing process. Bummer that it has happened at the start of summer. ๐Ÿ™

Here's hoping you're right handed, otherwise you'll have absolutely nothing to do while you're off ๐Ÿ˜‰
Heal soon fella.

Ahh shit luck ๐Ÿ™ At least you have past experience so you know what to do to ensure a fast recovery. Any chance you get it off after 4 weeks? I did this when I fractured my scaphoid and hamate last year definitely helped the healing process.

here is hoping, chatting with some mates working out that non biking things are more expensive than biking in the end...

may need to start inviting myself round to dinner with some friends

more expensive and less satisfying - picked best time of year plus owed some big credits on spring work trips i'd reckon ๐Ÿ˜‰

The interesting part is 2 docs couldn't make sense of what was going on.
Off for more X-rays and back for the consultant.

Basically a very small fracture at the end of my radius, not an issue hence the small brace.
The other parts not so simple, old Scaphoid fracture isn't healed well, few bits of bone hanging round in there probably displaced by the original injury - probably 10 years ago snowboarding if I remember back. There is also a lump of calcified stuff/not bone hanging round in there that just looks like a bit of bone thats fallen off hence more confusion.

Now for the treatment option
1) Wait/leave and see how it goes been OK for a while so might be fine though arthritis will be coming.
2) Fuse bits that are in there to other bits, stable but less movement
3) Either from the CIA interrogation suite or somewhere in the 12th centurary
