[Closed] Breaking a singlespeed chain....
Its a KMC B1 - so doesn't have the clever link but a "snap on" plate.
Can I snap it off,do I remove a link and is the chain then ruined/weak and a bit dodgy for singlespeed, or just buy another chain for £5 perhaps the one with the link this time?
Needs to go from frame A to frame B.
I should have said "splitting" in the title....
what is it with you and chains 😉
I suspect that the link is a use once type one and you'd be better breaking the chain elsewhere and getting another link.
these are reuseable links for SS chain like yours;

Lol, I think so.
Will probably order this:

I've got a z510 chain and split the link to put onto my Sanderson from my Kona, it's been fine so far. It's had a 100 mile on it since I did it.
What frame did you get?
I have one on my track bike, I've taken it apart (gently) and then rejoined it with no problem, however that is a clean chain on a bike only used for racing so the chain is in quite good nick, if your link is slack after you replace it I'd get a replacement

surely it's easier to open the snap on link and if needs be replace that
I edited and added my pic and link but the SJS one is thesame...
wwaswas I didn't refresh the page before I posted. Yes same link except SJS charge 2.50 postage 😯
Ordered from cyclestore.
umop3pisdn - thats what it came with (well the KMC version).
Just looked on the KMC site and they thinks its reusuable - see:

(snap on 1/8)
Aaaaaargh.
walked to man-cave, snapped it off and snapped it back on to the new frame in 2 minutes.
😳
😯
Oh and do it the old fashioned way, no split link at all - wont be any probs!
