Round 3 next Sunday any others entered? 2 hours 40+ vets for myself again and hopefully in a slightly better shape than round 2 but don't hold your breath 🤪

Alas... COVID city in my lungs at the mo!
Won't be either well enough, or out of quarantine....
Wonder who the SS series medal will go to 🤷‍♂️

Good luck whoever races!

Bad luck DrP, speedy recovery!

I was hoping to race but have some post viral (covid) fatigue with 10% elevated HR which is slow to clear up, so I'm advised not to race and am continuing a cautious base currently.

Good luck all.

I’m in - 2hr vets category again. Looking forward to it - hope the course is as good as last time. What a shame @DrP you deserve to win it!

I've entered, my first time doing Brass Monkeys, 3hr's for me.
What's the course generally like?

Good fun, nothing tech, lots of squirelly singletrack, Minley does have a strange spongy energy sapping section though.

Speedy recovery to DrP and kryton 57. If my memory's right theres not so many long straight fire roads as the R2. He says hopefully!

@windyg welcome along! You’ll love it - approx 5 mile lap with a lot of excellent singletrack. Not masses of elevation, but great fun to ride. Enjoy…

Well that was fun! Race didn’t go well for me (although I was gridded I couldn’t get through to the front as there were so many people so first lap was a queuing disaster) but it was a beautiful day, and as ever I loved the course and enjoyed the ride. Made up a lot of places later in the race which was fun. Just love racing!

Well that was an almighty mess for me. My new inhaler didn't arrive so I've been with the steroids for 5 days and boy did I feel it. J packed after 1 lap.
Disappointed 😞

Undoubtedly I bet you gave it your best shot Ernie.

I would of a preferred a better position than 34th but I gave it my all.
I was also gridded and couldn't get to the front. Mind you I'm not sure how that happened as according to the email I shouldn't of been. Can only assume some folk didn't turn up. Realistically I don't think it would of made much difference to result anyway.

I came away knowing I gave it my all. Great fun, course and weather.

Southern xc series anyone?

What a great race, awesome course one of the best I've ridden in years, those roots were a real challenge, my only mishap was clipping a tree with my elbow. I had no idea of my fitness level so went for a back of the pack start in 3hr G Vets so pretty happy to finish 30th from 69, my weak point was the climbs and a too cautious start.

Did anyone see the tree that someone knocked down 🙂

A bit of video from yesterday at Minley. Nothing fancy but tried to capture as many riders as possible.

Edited to add,  just the morning's races.

Nice video @masterdabber captured the beautiful day well! I featured a couple of times, pleased to see I wasn’t the only one overshooting and having near misses with the tree in the hollow 😂

Southern xc and Gorrick spring series next up!

Great video @masterdabber. Yes that tree was a bit fiddly, I see someone in the video took a left line over that fallen tree. Not sure if it was intentional or not but it looked cool😄

No more Gorricks this spring for me but I have signed up for the southern series.

@bigdaddy and @muddylegs   Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.  Yes that bit of root nearly caight a few people out.

The rider who took the fallen tree route was the only one I saw do that. I'd only just got in position and he nearly caught me out in the wrong position. 🙂

I couldn't get around as quickly as I'd have liked as I'm still being a bit careful after my crashbut I got in what I could.

Well, I ended up with a 5th place in series - that was unexpected! Guess a lot of people didn’t do all 3 😂. Got to be in it and all that…
