[#9748030]

am thinking of racing the BM2 at Minley this weekend although, having ridden one at the same venue a couple of years back in hub deep mud - the weather forecast and the 3 hour round trip are literally, dampening my interest a little.

So...who's in? Anyone ridden Minley of late? How is it holding up?

Well, I've got an entry in for the 4hr ss....

Raced the last round at Frith Hill, which was excellent, although it did start to get a bit slidey in the last hour or so when the rain started.

Can't remember Minley, but your description isn't endearing itself!

what is up with the weather forecast? look fairly good apart from the storm tomorrow. I don't believe it gets ridden much there so the trails are usually fairly good. it was quite grotty last year but I think it rained the night before. i think i'll do the 4hr, 6 months out of racing is long enough.

I'm in for the 4hr SS..
Wanting to race in all 3 rounds (and have paid already), so rain or not, I'll be there.... yay 😥 🙄

At least i've no dangly bits to sheer off in the hub deep mud...!

Did the 1st round & was actually entered in all 3 but they moved the dates around & I can’t maje this weekend or the last round now.

Rode through Minley on my way to work this morning, seems to be OK, but only rode a bit of it. Fair number of slippy, exposed roots, but it will depend on which sections they use and whether they include any new bits.

I was tempted but don't like the longer format at this time of year, if it were a 1 hour sprint race etc i'd have been more interested.

hub deep mud

This was most likely in the section between 'banksy' and going under 'the bridge to nowhere'. Probably horrendous at this time of year so hopefully the organisers will use a different section (going back along banksy) to get under the bridge to nowhere. That is, if they use this area of Minley at all.

I'm in for the 2hr vets - should be a laugh.

The last one was a complete out of body experience on my 3rd lap....... 😕

My other half is racing this - I'll head over the road to my very first stomping ground to ride there whilst she buries herself in the 2hr race.

Didn't look very appealing to me!

Has the format recently changed to make it a short 2 hour race (rather than complete the current lap when your time is up)?

Same as usual - need to finish the lap you're on before 2hrs is up (or 4).

I've signed up for round 3 on the 28th - first time at this sort of thing... any advice as to what I can expect (apart from mincing around the back. XC snake, I am not...)?

Cheers,

Rich

Also in for the 28th as non competitive and at the end of a stiff training block so im told ill be tired and to treat it like a “highly motivated training ride” 😀

Just sold my FS so ill be race HT only which might get a bit wearing. Will be interested in seeing the reports of tomorrows conditions at Minley, good luck all.

Nope would be nuts to use FS in these conditions

What a cracking course! Apart from the ever increasing puddle of doom it was beautifully dry.

Completely knackered now.

Haha- the puddle of doom.. it was getting bad at the end of 2 hours. Can only imagine how it looked after 4.

Great course and surprisingly didn’t cut up too badly given the weather we’ve had this week. Well done to the organisers.

I’ve seen the photos from Kevin Sheldrake which are great as usual - but there was another guy at the bottom of a dip. Anyone got a link to his photos?

I wish I'd come and done it now, instead I got battered in the CX national. I would have been nice to have a crack at the 4hr series win, but oh well, I'll definitely be at the next one. Fingers crossed for some dryish weather

Cracking course indeed. It was running very fast considering the rain leading up to it.
Enjoyed that and good to catch up with lots of folk.

Congratulations on the win DrP!

Nice change from the usual Gorrick course - congrats to the organisers.

Managed 2 laps, would have got a 3rd, but for snapping my chain & squashing my spuds on the the top tube!

That made me wince a little!

Missed the race but will be doing Minley tomorrow. Any advice on the route directions gratefully received as colleagues last week were flummoxed.

Whose out this weekend coming then? Weather looks perfect, will it be muddy though...?

My legs are hurting already, but i do get Saturday as a rest day :D. And this will be the second time ever on the new bike with a front tyre ive never ridden before. What could possibly go wrong?!

I’ll be there 🙂

I’m the opposite of you though.. F-all time on the bike (weather/illness/kids!)

Hey... I think if it as a ‘rest fortnight’!

Seems a shame to destroy a new FS at a BM where any advantage is so minimal.

Fat bike for me, not nearly fit enough and might be fitting new some Jones bars just prior. Essentially it'll be a farce but I'll have fun. Also I always get cramp at Gorrick races, nowhere else.

Had a week of the 'flu - still stuck with a bit of a chest infection, so looks like I'm out of this weekend's round. Was looking forward to it otherwise...
